Revisiting my final project proposal. Because the last blog post kinda sucked

“Virtual reality is a term much subject to confusion. All synthetic worlds generated by computers could be considered virtual worlds; indeed, fictional worlds of all kinds—for example, those created by literature, theater, cinema, or art—can be considered virtual realities. In contemporary discourse, however, the term virtual reality is most often applied to experiences generated by computers that simulate sensual cues of physical reality more closely than that generated only on a screen and by regular speakers.”

Idea, I want to create my own version of virtual reality. I’m approaching The VR reading again because I feel the project I made was slightly convoluted and hard to understand. What intrigues me about this is the idea of having space be filled with human forms, that don’t exist, or don’t contain a human. I want to create these forms mimicking our internet usage. education vs leisure

Myron Krueger asserts that the shaping of artificial worlds is amoral responsibility: “The design of such intimate technology is an aesthetic issue as much as an engineering one. We must recognize this if we are to understand and choose what we become as a result of what we have made.”

I want to tackle this idea of engineering a fake human form. I want to portray the idea of humans being there but not being in the space. Allude to the idea of the hidden. I think this relates to the reading because vr is technically hard to describe. so if we portray something in the real world happening on the computer, can that be counted as virtual reality? I think also that shaping internet usage into a physical representation is interesting.

Many researchers in other fields are drawn to virtual reality as a kind of super realistic cinema, and seek to create simulations with enhanced illusions of reality.

I’m thinking to make the piece not the installation itself. But the documentation. Either photo or video. And I may use a sound element to create a space non materially? That is based on sound that parallels the photo or form of documentation

Three-dimensional video graphic scene elements, spatialized sounds and voices, and embodiment as petroglyphic spirit animals were employed to construct a composite landscape that could be visited concurrently by two physically remote participants wearing head-mounted displays, who were guided by a disembodied “Voice of the Goddess” as they walked about, conversed, used both hands to touch and move virtual objects, and recorded fragments of their own narratives in the three worlds.
-addressing why i may include a sound piece. Im thinking something recorded in the space over a certain time frame. possible locations of set up... in the library at school. a hallway. in our classroom representing us surrounding :the round table:

The amount of figures may be important as well. im unsure how to think about this yet. Ill update my blog soon.
